Jason vs. Fonzie

I love you all, so don't be jealous when you read that I'm going to this:
http://www.chillertheatre.com/gt/gtc4.htm

I will take as many pictures as I can

What started out as a funny nerd thing to do while visiting a friend who lives near there has turned (as more and more weirder and weirder guests have been added) into one of the most exciting days ever.

This reminds me of the time during the blizzard of '93 that Marylin Manson's tour bus, and the Orlando Magic (with Shaquille O'Neal) team bus, and the Muppets on Ice tour bus all got stranded at the same hotel in Scranton PA.

I always wished I could've have seen what weird kind of party they threw.

This seems like it could be even more pop culturally ridiculous.

I'll post on Monday.

FYI

People of Earth:
Putting a smiley-face at the end of a sentence does not absolve you of having been rude.

To help communicate this idea, please consider:
If I punched someone in the testicles and handed him a piece of paper with a smiley face drawn on it, he would still have aching testicles.

This has been an FYI

We're in

We’re in the house with most everything in boxes. Every horrible event you read below is worth it to get a big, new house that we own 20% of. I love my home and my new neighborhood and we are better friends with our neighbors after a few days than we were with our old neighbors after 4 years.

We’re going to the shore for a wedding today and I won ‘t be online again until Sunday so here’s the best recap I can do in five min.

Tues 8/28 After work (a day of research interviews), we move till 1 AM
Wed 8/29
AM - The movers come and put everything in storage. The movers flip out over the coolness of my zombie that rips his own head off and the zombie that crawls across the floor. Trish handles all this while I’m at work doing research interviews
PM - With some stuff left over in each room, we move until 10 PM when the storage unit closes and then go to sleep in a hotel
Thurs 8/30 - we get up at 5 AM, keep packing until the new owners come to walk through at 9ish. We finish packing at 10:30 and drive over to the office for closing of the sale. The day before I read a piece of paper from the Title company that told us we should get our oil tank measured to get a reimbursement on our leftover oil. This morning, while packing, they send someone over to measure and we have a lot in the tank. While closing, they fax over the details and the Title company quickly makes sure to include a refund for the $566. I think to myself, I sure wish my Realtor would ahve mentioned any of this. This $566 off-sets the ridiculous $600 the new owners wanted for a laundry pump they do not need. The deal almost fell apart because they are so stubborn. The week before close Trish and I agreed to pay this because the market is so shitty and it’s unbelievable with such a lack of advertising from our Realtor that we sold our house. So, it is fine justice that even though we’re getting our money back, it almost balances out the $600.
After close, we finish unloading our car and get some lunch. I go in to work because there’s something due the next week and I need to make sure everyone’s got what they need to get it done. I go into work at 4:30, which does nothing to help end my recurring dream about trying to get to work all day and getting in at 3PM. This reminds me that I’ve been having stress dreams all week. I forget most of them, except for the one where I was Sipowitz’s partner and the clue to the case was in a statue on the front lawn of the crime scene.
Fri 8/31 - We buy our new house. Things go well except for the 5 minutes we couldn’t place a $35,000 check. We both kept cool heads and found it, allowing us to buy a house. The sellers look like Chris Moore and Karen Allen.
We meet the new neighbors who are awesome and get some pizza from the pizza shop at the end of the street, four houses down from us. We have floor guys coming to rip up carpets because the previous tennents had cats. The floor guys can’t refinish the floors because they’re in too bad of a shape. We learn from the neighbors that the house has basically been rebuilt 4 years ago except for the floors and the plumbing.

Ah - I have to go to work now, we’re doing a walking brainstorm all over Philly, from Pat’s Steaks to Old City to the Liberty Bell to Rittenhouse Square. It’ll be cool.

To wrap up, on Sat 9/1 the plumbing broke. We had no water from 2 PM till 11 PM, but - after that things have gone very well. It sounds horrible, but we’ve never been so happy. I’ll explain this statement and fill in the rest, including how the hell I’m going to pull off Halloween paintings and what’s up with the new site and the weekly painting schedule. Talk to you on Monday

getting warmer

hey.

so work today was a mixed bag. started good ended frustrating. whilst moving, i’m trying to check things off my list and man do they keep lingering. but i’m almost all checked off.

we moved a lot of stuff into storage tonight and moved a ton out of the attic. man, i have a lot of freaking paintings. i also found my superhero drawings from when i was 13. man, every day i would come straight home from school and then draw from 3 - 8. my shoulder is still all fucked up from leaning on it in a stupid way.

it’s weird looking back at those giant posters i made of every super hero i could think of. i was so much more motivated to conquer then. it was all on the way up, trying to fast forward time till i could get the skills i wanted to have to be able to draw whatever i thought of. it’s weird to think about having to have drawn for so many years before things stopped looking goofy. and to think about the drive i had then to keep at it even though i knew things would not turn out the way i wanted. i’m proud of little me for appreciating progress instead of perfection.

It's been a few weeks since I posted.

What's happened?

I did 4 paintings and 25 sketches.

I put my house on the market. (We painted, cleaned, sealed, caulked, moved, bought, stored, trashed, and washed it all up first)

I went to a viewing and a funeral.

I sorta changed positions at work. It'll happen f'real f'real in a few weeks.

I let go of working on a dream job because in the end it'll be better for me. Maybe.

I made about two hundred pages for my new Web site.

I saw two scarabs. One was shiny green like the ones I saw last year and the year before that.

Soon, I'll have my new site up and you can see all the sketches and paintings.

And then I'll be posting a new sketch every day and a new painting every Thursday morning. You should be getting new music every Tuesday, new comics every Wednesday, and seeing new movies every Friday. Mondays just suck and I'm not co-branding my paintings with Mondays. I don't know what day books come out. I never bought them regularly.

Also - this weekend I'll be painting a frame for a painting I sold a long time ago and mailing out some photos that I promised to a model about 7 months ago.

I take forever, but I always get through my lists.

I'll also be starting Halloween paintings the week after next.

Yep, Halloween paintings.

That means it'll be 13 weeks till Halloween.

Get your costume ready.

8/2 I see Marylin Manson

8/5 - 8/10 I'm going to San Diego

Culture

I'm going to be mixing my art posts with some culture and society posts. At least until I figure out if I need a separate blog.

Here's one for today:
Blockbuster Inc. on Monday put its weight behind Sony Corp (NYSE:SNE - news).'s Blu-ray DVD format, as the No. 1 video rental chain said it would boost its inventory of the high-definition discs to 1,700 stores by mid-July.

I'm just following the Blu-Ray vs. HD-DVD format battle. It'll be important in the next few years.

Reboot of this blog

Long story short, I'll be updating this blog more and I had to restart it
